Puerh Tea Facts, Q & A about Green Tea, Black Tea...

A Letter to My Puerh Friends

Spring is an important and busy time for tea farmers and tea merchants because the Spring Harvest is regarded as the best crop of the year in terms of the flavor and nutrients inherent in the tea. For this reason, I picked this time for my annual trip to visit the various tea mountains in Yunnan, China.

I flew to Hong Kong on April 1. After two days of intensive study with my tea master, we traveled to Yunnan, China. During our twelve-day excursion, we drove over 2,000 miles across Yunnan, from Kunming to Meng Hai in the far South, back to Kunming and then North to Dali. Along the way, we visited famous Puerh tea mountains Nannuo, YiWu, Lao BanZhang and a large Oolong plantation in Dali. I tasted countless cups of Puerh tea from different regions, drank the best tasting spring water in my life in Nannuo, and met many tea experts and enthusiasts at the Fourth International Tea Expo in Kunming.

I also had the opportunity to visit the Yunnan Agriculture University, Puerh Tea College, the one and only Puerh college in the world. I had the privilege of meeting and speaking to a person whom I had wanted to meet for a long time - Professor Zhou Hong Jie, Vice-dean of the Puerh Tea College and Chief Scientist of the Puerh Tea Research Institute, and author of many Puerh books. I visited the University’s tea garden and its study base of Puerh tea.

It is my pleasure to share what I learned and experienced from my trip in upcoming newsletters. Besides my tea study, another reason for the trip was to personally source new Puerh teas for the Puerh lovers in the U.S. I am pleased to announce that four Puerh teas of different vintages have been added to my product line. Please visit www.banateacompany.com to view the new products. I hope you will all enjoy reading this newsletter. Don’t forget to enjoy a cup of your favorite Puerh tea while you are doing so.

Sincerely,
Linda Louie
